Hey guys,
here's another page for the styleguide. This one talks about the acts and their colors and form language.I still have trouble with Act II, but I don't think that this comes as a surprise.
C&C appreciated :)

Hey Tom,
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI really like this. This will give us a much better impression on the color scheme we are going to use. And to add something else, it's quite a professional lay out you used for this picture. It gives me the feeling that you are in full control of it and I like that.
So some feedback on your ideas. Well to say the least it's great. We do have to see something like a "screenshot" with some ingame props we're going to make. But I'm confident this will work out just fine regarding to the style and the colors that are being used.
We talked on the phone a bit and the first idea that I had was not so much the change of shapes as you mentioned. The idea I have is more that the soil where the plants grow dries out bit by bit. You are going into a cave/vulcano. I will explain to you in short what I mean by this.
Let's say you have three key elements in the ride regarding to scenery: Bush, Rock and Industrial. And each act you would have 20 points to spend. And you would spend those points like this;
Act 1: Bush (17), Rock (3), Industrial (0)
Act 2: Bush (4), Rock (14), Industrial (2)
Act 3: Bush (0-1), Rock (5), Industrial (14-15)
Ok now each attribute (bush, rock and industrial) has three degrees.
For Example the three degrees of Rock;
Level 1 (0-4): small/medium size assets, Vector-like shapes, round shapes, happy, organic,
Level 2 (5-9): medium/large size assets, pointy edges, less organic, tougher
level 3 (10+): large/ XXL size assets,
Hard, Big, overwhelming etc
Now this may sound a little vage at first but In my experience it would give each act a better feel caus all the shapes will be in each scene only there will be more round shapes in the beginning, and allmost none in the end. However those few level 1 assets you used in act 3 will contribute to the feel of the ride. I think it will give more consistency caus you will allways have some of each shape (being level 1, 2 or 3) in each act.
To put it simply, this idea would be something like a one color gradient. It's still the same color but it changes over time.
I hope you get what I'm trying to say here but if not, I will explain it to you thoroughly.
sorry let me rephrase;
BeantwoordenVerwijderenTo put it simply, this idea would be something like a two color gradient, where the first color slowly fades and the second one slowly shows.
